Welcoming Our New Executive Director, Andrea Gordillo
The Freelancers Union Board is proud to announce our new Executive Director, Andrea Gordillo. Hired by our previous Executive Director, Rafael Espinal, to serve as his Chief of Staff, Andrea now succeeds him in the role of Executive Director. As Chief of Staff, Andrea has been a driving force behind the union's recent momentum of moving our policy agenda forward, deepening partnerships, and strengthening the Legal Clinic that advocates for members impacted by non-payment.
Not only does she know Freelancers Union from the inside, she also brings years of organizing experience to the role. That instinct shapes how she thinks about the union and where it's headed to better serve you. Her plans are ambitious. Andrea wants Freelancers Union out in front on the future of work, helping shape it instead of chasing it. That means expanding into new cities and states, building community hubs where members can find each other, making membership more useful and valuable in everyday life, and growing our voice to ensure independent workers across the country get the protection and respect they deserve. The freelance economy is at a turning point. Tens of millions of people are building careers outside the old rules, and we need a union with ambition to match. Andrea is the right person to lead.
Please join us in welcoming Andrea as your new Freelancers Union Executive Director. There's a lot of work ahead, and a lot to be excited about. Welcome, Andrea.
