We're hiring a Social Media Manager at Freelancers Hub!

Are you a well-organized, detail-oriented self-starter with at least three years of experience in social media management and communications? Do you have strong ties to New York's creative community and a passion for supporting freelancers?

We’re looking for a Social Media Manager for the Freelancers Hub, a new freelancer-focused community center that provides networking, training and education, and free coworking to New York City freelancers.

Freelancers Union is an innovative nonprofit representing over 375,000 independent workers across the United States. We support our members with advocacy and education, including the landmark Freelance Isn’t Free law, the first-of-its-kind Freelancers Hub, community-based local SPARK meetups, and the #1 blog for freelancers in the country.

We’re looking for a Social Media Manager who can drive online and in-person engagement to catalyze community growth at Freelancers Hub, a new training center to provide entrepreneurial skills to creative freelancers in New York City.

Your responsibilities would include managing Freelancers Hub’s communications calendar, posting engaging social media content, developing campaigns to promote Hub events and grow Hub channels, copywriting, and reporting on growth and engagement metrics. You will also be assisting the Program Director with events production.

You should be well-organized, extremely detail-oriented, and have a strong understanding of the NYC creative community and a knack for producing highly engaging content.

Scope of Responsibilities

  • Manage a rigorous calendar of communications in order to drive event attendance and build social channels from the ground up
  • Draft all communications and marketing for the program: web and email copy, social media, and blog posts, and produce flyers, brochures, and other print materials
  • Generate and implement social campaigns and other content strategies to build engagement in the program to meet strategic growth targets
  • Support the Program Director in supervising community/coworking space, building positive relationships with the freelancer community, identifying community leaders, and leveraging member insights to identify new content areas and strategies to improve member resources
  • Analyze program and outreach metrics, reporting weekly to provide insights and measure results against strategic goals

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience in communications, social media, and community building
  • Experience and prior knowledge of data analytics and social media metrics for growth and benchmark setting
  • Passionate about working with creatives and building connections with our community
  • Well-organized and detail-oriented, with strong copyediting and project management skills
  • Creative thinker and writer, with a punchy and engaging tone and an affinity for the NYC creative community
  • Warm and engaging interpersonal skills; able to effectively lead meetings and represent Freelancers Union’s brand
  • Bilingualism strongly desired
