The Keystones of our movement

Every movement starts with a vanguard.

In the early years after Freelancers Union began in 1995, there was a cadre of freelancers who were forging a path for all the freelancers who followed them. Long before freelancing became the new normal, they were creating the new norms for our community and our economy.

Now our more than 250,000 members are benefitting from their work.

The movement’s strength today wouldn’t be possible without these early adopters -- the 60,000 “Keystone Members” who have been leading the way with Freelancers Union for more than five years.

To those keystone members, I want to say thank you. Thank you for being an integral part of our community. Thank you for helping us build our sturdy foundation.

And to those who have more recently joined the movement, thank you for doing your part to make sure the landscape is more welcoming and empowering for the next generation of freelancers.

Together, we’re building a new infrastructure for independent workers. We’re redefining success to be about connection, creativity, and well-being -- one keystone at a time.
