Last week, we announced that Freelancers Union is sending one lucky freelancer on a New Mutualist vacation to San Francisco. Over a thousand freelancers entered, and today we have a winner!

The winner is Merva Faddoul, a project manager, writer, film director, and social activist from New York. Congrats, Merva!

We're sending Merva to SF with $1,000 for travel expenses and meals at New Mutualist hot spots: the world-famous Chez Panisse, The Cheese Board Collective, and the Rainbow Grocery Cooperative.

What is New Mutualism, you ask? It’s the simple idea that we’re stronger together than we are alone. So whatever choices we make as freelancers and individuals -- whether that’s where to shop or where to visit on vacation -- we should support businesses and organizations that support the Do It Ourselves principle and are driven by a social mission.
