A Freelancer's Letter of Reference

It’s always nice to see your friends and family over the holidays -- but too often it comes along with the loaded question, “So, what are you doing for work nowadays?”

“I’m freelancing” can open up a can of worms.

Maybe your grandma will give you a polite but confused look. Or your uncle will let slide a diplomatically-(or not-so-diplomatically)-worded version of, “Is that even a real job?”

Really, Uncle Frank?

Freelancers will soon account for nearly 50% of the workforce. You’re shaping the new economy and creating the collaborative communities that spark New Mutualism.

That’s why I wrote up this “letter of reference” just for you.** **Print it out and have it ready when your family just doesn’t understand how vital you and your fellow freelancers are to the new economy.

They might not know that freelancers are the future, but give ‘em a break. It is Thanksgiving, after all.
