FIC Plans: What if I’m hospitalized?

All five FIC health plans limit the amount you will have to pay out of pocket for a hospital stay. Let’s assume you go to a hospital that is in the BlueCard PPO® network:

  • If you are on one of the PPO plans, you will be responsible for your facility deductible and coinsurance. Your total expenses for the stay will be capped by the plan’s out-of-pocket maximum.
  • If you are on one of the HD plans, you will be responsible for your in-network deductible only.
Keep in mind that deductibles and maximums are for the calendar year (not each stay), so if you were to meet them during an initial hospital stay and then were to go back into the hospital later that same year, you would not need to pay out of pocket again.
