May 1, International Workers' Day

Happy May Day! In several countries around the world, May 1 is when Labor Day, also known as International Workers' Day, is celebrated. International Workers' Day commemorates both the call for an 8-hour workday, first made by the Federation of Organized Trades and Labor Unions in 1884, and Chicago's Haymarket Riots two years later. You can read more about the history of May Day at the IWW website.
