Last night at BAM, founding members, supporters, and staff of Freelancers Union celebrated our organization's 10th anniversary! Thanks to all those who came out in the rain.
Sara Horowitz Unplugged:
Executive Director of Freelancers Union thanks members & friends
In thanking the members and supporters of Freelancers Union, Executive Director Sara Horowitz quoted two of her heroes: Eleanor Roosevelt and Sidney Hillman. (Hillman founded the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America, and if you visit the Amalgamated Bank Building on Union Square West, you'll see a plaque honoring this labor visionary, who believed that all people could work together in "friendship and cooperation.") We were able to use the beautiful, newly-renovated BAMcafé reception space.
The Blue Vipers, a Brooklyn band that plays early jazz standards, provided the musical entertainment. During a slide show honoring friends and supporters of Freelancers Union, the Blue Vipers played Cole Porter's "You're the Top."
Saxophonist David Luther is a Freelancers Union Member!
