It's November, which means Open Enrollment for health insurance is in full swing!

Our New York members have been asking for more plan options —and we listened.

Freelancers Union is happy to announce we’re expanding our list of health insurance partners to include CareConnect for 2016.

This year, we focused on finding a partner that complements the offerings provided by Empire BlueCross BlueShield.

A smaller, local carrier founded by North Shore-LIJ Health System, CareConnect offers freelancers in New York City and Long Island a range of lower-cost plan designs.

CareConnect allows choices for every aspect of healthcare coverage: specialist visits, prescription drugs, emergency care, and other health services.

Their plans offer the flexibility that comes with an EPO plan design – no referrals necessary – as well as the affordability that comes with a smaller, local network.

Starting on November 1st, you can shop for plans at our new, easy-to-use website freelancersunion.org/health where you can compare key benefits of each plan.

If you have questions about enrollment, your different plan options, or if you qualify for a subsidy, call and speak with one of our licensed agents at 800-869-9981.

Your participation in our health insurance plans supports the Freelancers Union community, support, and advocacy work, like the #FreelanceIsntFree Campaign.

Even better? When you purchase insurance through Freelancers Insurance Agency, you're guaranteed a seat at the table with insurance companies as an independent worker.

Together, we have the power to make our collective voice heard and build a system that fits the evolving needs of the freelance worker.

Now, go forth, and be insured!
