Paying more to get paid on time?

It’s outrageous. According to a recent Gawker post, many freelancers out there are expected to pay a portion of their hard-earned money just to get paid on time. So, rather than waiting the typical 60 days to get paid by Time Inc., for example, you could let them take 4% of what they owe you and get paid within 3 days. Instead of waiting 75 days to receive your owed wages by NBC Universal, pay them 2.5% of your wages, and you’ll get paid in a mere 15 days. For years, we’ve been tracking issues of nonpayment and late payments from clients, but this is beyond ridiculous. Have you had to deal with this practice? If so, please share your stories here, on our blog or through this mini survey.
