What can a Comptroller do for you?
Freelancers Union hosted over fifty members at our NYC Comptroller and Public Advocate Candidate Forum, despite the monsoon-like conditions in New York last night. Our endorsements for these and other candidates in city elections will be public by this time next week, so last night was the candidates’ last chance to win the support of our members, who submitted surveys reviewing each speaker. Eight candidates made their pitches and answered freelancers’ questions about the role of the office for which they were running (none seemed surprised at having to explain) and how that office could impact freelancers’ lives. If you want to know more about how each candidate would use his office to support the independent workforce, click their names above to read their endorsement questionnaire (PDF). (John Liu and Bill de Blasio's will be posted soon.) Who was present? Running for Comptroller:
- John Liu
- David Weprin
- David Yassky
For Public Advocate: - Bill de Blasio
- Eric Gioia
- Mark Green
- Norman Siegel
- Alex Zablocki
