- Freelance journalist Josh Wolf is being targeted by federal prosecutors, who want access to footage he shot of a protest in San Francisco. Last week, the Society of Professional Journalists contributed money to Wolf's legal defense. The San Francisco Gate avers that investigators are trying to discredit Wolf, and challenge his protections as a journalist, because he's a freelancer. We're disappointed, but not surprised. Yet again, we see that independent workers need better workplace protections.
