NY State Senator Andrew Lanza meets with freelancers

On Tuesday night, Freelancers Union members braved the rain to meet with New York State Senator Andrew Lanza and Freelancers Union Executive Director Sara Horowitz on Staten Island. Sen. Lanza addressed topics close to freelancers' hearts: exempting sole proprietors from the Unincorporated Business Tax and creating an Income Stabilization Fund to help freelancers during times of little or no employment.

Sen. Lanza represents the 24th Senate District, which includes most of Staten Island. At the event, he lauded independent workers for driving New York City’s economy and emphasized how essential it is to help maintain this vital workforce by eliminating burdensome taxes and developing programs that support freelancers' unique needs. We look forward to our next Staten Island event and thank Sen. Lanza for joining us!
