Freelancers Union App FAQs

How does it work?

The Freelancers Union App lets you access a network of lawyers who are committed to helping freelancers and who understand the freelance life. Better yet – they’re members of Freelancers Union too.

You can enter some information about what you’re looking for and quickly connect with a lawyer who handles issues similar to yours.

Freelancers Union provides no direct legal services, but connects you to independent lawyers that do.

Who are the lawyers?

The lawyers are a group of independent legal professionals focused on protecting the rights and interests of the freelance workforce. They’re committed to serve and advocate for independent workers and practice in a wide range of areas including: nonpayment, contracts, intellectual property, corporate formation, immigration, discrimination, trust & estates and more.

Each listed attorney is a dues-paying member of Freelancers Guild, a new program that brings together independent professionals to serve the larger freelance community. Freelancers Guild provides no direct legal services and member attorneys provide all legal services independently of the Guild and one another.

What if I can’t find a lawyer in my area?

As we pilot the network of lawyers, we are limited to a few areas around the country. But we’re working to expand to new cities and new specialties. If you need legal services and don’t find a local attorney here, you may want to contact your local Bar Association or search for legal assistance programs nearby.

I’m a lawyer and I want to be listed! What do I do?

Awesome! Just email us at guild@freelancersunion.org.

Are you going to expand to other services in additional to legal services?

Yes, I’m glad you asked! We’re planning to expand soon to other service areas and facilitate more member-to-member solutions.

I’m having an issue, who do I contact?

Sorry about that. Email us at membership@freelancersunion.org

What are the lawyer rates?

All listed attorneys will offer you a free initial consultation to understand your issue and discuss your case or project. At that time, you’ll discuss the attorney’s fee directly with them. We don’t set professional service rates – our role is simply to connect you with a lawyer interested in freelance clients.

How do I access the app?

Right now, we’ve launched this new program for iOS and Android devices, including iPhones, iPads, and Android phones and tables. You can find it by searching for “Freelancers Union” in your phone's app store or from our Freelancers Union App download page.

If you are having technical difficulties with the app, please email us at membership@freelancersunion.org so we can assist you.
