How to not fail at your New Year's Resolutions, according to science
It’s not necessarily about what you resolve to do, but how you go about doing it. A recent study from finder.com.au shows that sharing your resolutions with friends and family makes you more likely to accomplish them.
According to the study, 2 out of 3 people fail their New Year’s resolutions. And 80% of those failures happen in the first three months! The beginning of the year is crucial.
However, 3 out of 4 people who did succeed in accomplishing their resolutions attribute their success to sharing their resolution with others. Overall, you’re much more likely to succeed if you share your goals.
What makes for a great resolution?
• Set achievable goals
• Hold yourself accountable by using some kind of tracker—finder.com.au provides one here.
• Share your goals with others
• Stick to it for 3 months!
It doesn’t matter if your goals are personal or professional, or whether they have to do with health and fitness or travel. (Although 58% of folks have reported making health-related resolutions!) All that matters is how you go about accomplishing them. So keep things simple, hold yourself accountable, share your goals with others, and we’ll check in on you in March!
