5 energy boosting snacks for freelancers

You know the feeling -- it’s 4 p.m. and you still have a major project to finish for a client. There’s no time to grab lunch, and you don’t dare snack on something that puts you in a food coma and stands in the way of meeting your deadline.

Here’s a list of the best snacks for busy freelancers making their move.

1. Carrots and hummus

The delicious combo of carrots and hummus offers unbeatable nutrition while still being tasty. Carrots are loaded with vitamins so your immune system will keep you working hard during stressful gigs.

2. Fruit and nut bars

Get ready for some heavy omegas, protein and antioxidants. It’s the perfect on-the-go snack for the perfect on-the-go gig.

3. Chia seed pudding

Many people love sweet, delicious treats, but the sugar crash can throw you off your groove. Chia seed pudding is a great way to satisfy your sweet tooth with the added benefit of omegas. To make, simply add ¼ cup of chia seeds with one cup of coconut milk and some agave or honey. Put in the fridge for a few hours and enjoy!

4. Chocolate covered coffee beans

This protein, caffeine and sugar-filled snack will give you the burst of energy or inspiration you need in the final home stretch of a project. Don’t eat it too early in the day though--you don’t want to crash when you still have a lot of work to finish.

5. Apples and peanut butter

An apple a day keeps the doctor away -- and that’s key for freelancers. There’s no time to get sick when you have a deadline to meet. Spreading some good ol’ peanut butter on your sliced apples will make sure you also get some carbs and protein to keep you both healthy and energized.
