PLAYLIST: Thanking your freelance community

This weekend, many of us will be sitting around a big, full table with our families or friends. You can look around and see the faces of the people who helped make you who you are.

But there’s another group you should give a moment of thanks for, too -- your freelance community.

That woman who gave you a lead on a gig when you were in a dry spell. That guy who you trusted enough to hand a gig off to when you were overloaded. That friend who first explained what the heck a 1099 is. Or that one person (we all have them) who was the first to say, “Hey, you’re really good at that. You should go freelance.”

So, take a listen to these songs and maybe give a call to someone who makes your freelance life a little better.

"Let's Work Together" -- Canned Heat

"With a Little Help from my Friends" -- The Beatles

"Solidarity Forever" -- Pete Seeger

"Power in the Union" -- Billy Bragg

"Salt of the Earth" -- Rolling Stones

"King Harvest" -- The Band

"Give a Little Bit" -- Supertramp

PLUS A BONUS THANKSGIVING TRACK!

And, because it is one of the few classic songs about Thanksgiving and is sung by the son of one of America’s greatest labor singers, here’s the full 18-minute version of “Alice’s Restaurant” by Arlo Guthrie.
