The next thing we’re building together

Here is what 225,000 freelancers building together can do -- build a brand new freelancer hall in Lower Manhattan where freelancers can learn and work together...and access no-co-pay primary care.

It's a community space and a medical practice under one roof, designed by freelancers for freelancers.

This is the next step for the movement.

Our members first said they needed health insurance. So, together we built Freelancers Insurance Company.

Then, they told us they needed health care that treats them like a full person, with yoga and acupuncture alongside traditional primary care. So, together we built Freelancers Medical.

Then, they said they wanted to meet, connect and learn from each other. That meant they needed a physical space -- a place to bring their networks to life. So, together we built a freelancer hall in Downtown Brooklyn and, soon, a new one on Maiden Lane in Lower Manhattan. It's a new way of collaborating and working together to support our lives in 360 degrees.

Like the Brooklyn location, the new Manhattan hall – set to open in January – will be anchored by a freelancer-focused primary care practice and host “Freelance 360” networking events, professional education classes, and even some member-created pop-up events.

It represents a new way of collaborating and working together to support our lives in 360 degrees.

These are the kind of innovations we're talking about when we talk about freelancers shaping the future.

We are already looking into how we can all work together to bring this model to other cities.

What should the 225,000 of us build next? Let me know in the comments or on Twitter at @Sara_Horowitz.
