Freelancer benefit tomorrow (January 7)

This week, you can make a huge difference for one uninsured freelancer. Accessing affordable health insurance is by far one of the greatest obstacles that freelancers face. In fact, 47% of respondents to Freelancers Union’s 2009 advocacy survey said it was their greatest work obstacle—above a lack of unemployment protection, client nonpayment, worker misclassification, and over-taxation. This social injustice becomes a scary reality when you’ve just been diagnosed with cancer. On January 7 at 6pm in NYC, the One Case Silent Photography Auction will be held to benefit a freelancer recently diagnosed with breast cancer who is without health insurance.
