Design contest cancelled!

A few weeks ago, we launched a competition to find a new designer for freelancersunion.org, thinking that it would be a good way to get our community of members involved in the redesign of the website. The idea was that people would submit mock-ups of a new homepage, and then all the members could vote on them. As it turns out, some people considered the contest "spec work," which the Graphic Artists Guild and the American Institute of Graphic Arts both frown on. Though no one from either of those organizations complained, after researching their standards, we've decided to discontinue the contest. Instead, we'll be hiring a designer for our website the old-fashioned way: by looking at portfolios and conducting interviews. If you're interested in the position, email us.
