Mass. health care model to spread?

Today's Boston Globe highlights the recent interest other states have shown in Massachusetts's new health plan. For those who aren't familiar with the proposal, in 2007 the state will require all residents to have health coverage, whether through an employer, by qualifying for Medicaid, or by purchasing insurance on the individual market. Like a lot of other folks, we'll be watching Massachusetts closely. (We've already expressed our concerns about the people who'll end up buying insurance on the individual market.) And of course this isn't just a health care issue; the success or failure of the Massachusetts will end up as someone's political ammunition in 2008.
